    Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a common complication in pregnancy and constitutes a public health problem due to the risk of developing diabetes and other diseases. Most women face barriers in complying with preventive programs. This study aimed to explore motivational factors for lifestyle changes among women with a history of GDM and their suggestions for preventive programs.

    This study used a qualitative approach in six focus group interviews with a total of 32 women. The selection criteria were time since onset of GDM, including women diagnosed with GDM, six months and five years after GDM, diagnosed and not diagnosed with diabetes. Inductive analysis was performed.

    The women reacted with anxiety about their GDM diagnosis and experienced persistent concerns about the consequences of GDM. They were highly motivated to take preventive initiatives, but faced major adherence challenges. The demotivating factors were lack of time and resources, too little family involvement, lack of knowledge andg time after the onset of GDM.

In clinical trials, participants with T2D randomized to sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors have shown mild to moderate increases in serum Mg from baseline levels. This post hoc analysis assesses the relation between serum Mg with cardiovascular outcomes in 10,140 participants of the Canagliflozin Cardiovascular Assessment Study (CANVAS) Program.

    We evaluated the association of baseline serum Mg with the primary composite end point of death from cardiovascular causes, non-fatal myocardial infarction, and non-fatal stroke, and tested whether this association is modified by baseline serum Mg. Using mediation analysis, we determined whether change in serum Mg post-randomization mediates the beneficial effect of canagliflozin on cardiovascular outcomes.

    To compare rates of use and adherence for newer versus older second-line diabetes drug classes in commercially insured, Medicare Advantage and dual-eligible (covered by both Medicare and Medicaid) patients.

    Longitudinal cohort study using insurance claims data from 1/1/2012 to 12/31/2016 to identify patients with a first prescription, after metformin, of a second-line diabetes drug (eg sulphonylurea, DPP-4 inhibitor, thiazolidinedione, SGLT-2 inhibitor or GLP-1 receptor agonist) and to estimate their adherence to that drug class. Univariate analysis and multivariable logistic regression were used to examine the association between insurance type and use of each drug class, and between insurance type and adherence to each drug class.

The important question whether surveys of treatment preferences in theoretical patient cases also match how real patients are treated has not yet been addressed.

    From a Swedish cohort of 1186 GD patients (TT-12 cohort), 27 women were identified using the same criteria as from the index patient surveys from the European and American Thyroid Associations. This ‘index patient cohort’ was age 40-45, otherwise healthy female, with two children and uncomplicated GD. The applied first-line treatment of the patients in the index cohort, together with its variations, was compared with the treatment preferences according to international surveys. A comparison with the TT-12 cohort was also performed.

Our aim was to investigate the malignancy rate and the initial management of Thy3 nodules in our institution.

    A retrospective review was undertaken of 115 patients with Thy3 cytology results from thyroid fine-needle aspirations performed between January 2015 and June 2020 at a single centre. A total of 90 out of 115 patients underwent surgery.

    Of the 90 patients, we had a 40% malignant rate (36/90). Specifically, 14 of 34 (41.1%) Thy3a and 22 of 56 (39.2%) Thy3f nodules were malignant. Of the malignant lesions, 52.7% (19/36) were follicular thyroid carcinoma. 58.8% (10/17) of male patients and 35.6% (26/73) of female patients had a malignant histology. Eighteen patients eventually needed a completion thyroidectomy.
